Brothers Food Mart chain to be expanded across the Southeast

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Mountain Express Oil Co. has acquired New Orleans-based Brothers Food Mart, the city’s largest convenience store chain with 50 stores. Mountain Express acquired a majority of Brothers Food Mart stores and a license to use the name in the agreement. In conjunction with the deal, Mountain Express’ co-CEOs Lamar Frady and Turjo Wadud have formed a joint venture with Brothers Chicken, the chain’s signature fried chicken product. Brother’s Food Mart co-owner Imad Faiez “Eddie” Hamdan and his brother-in-law Ziad Odeh “Z” Mousa will become a joint venture partner with Mountain Express. “We found a great partner in Mountain Express, a company that can help Brothers move forward,” Hamdan said. “Turjo, Lamar, and the team can help us grow our brand without losing what makes it so special today.” The goal of the acquisition is to expand the brand into more southern markets, including North Carolina, Atlanta, Memphis, and Dallas, while simultaneously expanding Brothers Food Mart’s Louisiana footprint. Mountain Express plans to add 100 additional Brothers sites within the next six months, according to Wadud. Mountain Express Oil, based in Alpharetta, owns and/or controls more than 200 gas stations and provides fuel to more than 600 stations across the country under several major oil and regional fuel brands.

In light of Mountain Express’ significant growth trajectory, partnering with proven convenience chains like Brothers is perfectly aligned with its future goals,” Wadud noted. The experience and leadership of Hamdan and Mousa on the team will enable the company to bring every customer’s craving for Brothers fried chicken closer to reality than they ever thought possible.

New Orleans, La., is known for many things, including food and music. However, it is also known as a city that comes together in times of crisis. That is vitally important to Brothers Food Mart owner Eddie Hamdan, who manages 45 convenience stores in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas ar.. ““We are a part of New Orleans,” Hamdan says. “And we try to get involved as much as possible.” Getting involved means stepping up when the need arises. In February, New Orleans was struck by a devastating tornado. Brothers Food Mart provided food and other supplies to aid the stricken community. “We really try to do everything we can,” Hamdan adds..”

The Local Flavor

The Brothers Food Mart has established a brand for itself by offering something no other convenience store provides: fresh fried chicken every day. “Our chicken sets us apart,” Hamdan says. “That, plus having a local flavor and remaining loyal to our customers.”

Hamdan’s secret recipe is a secret, but his fresh chicken is not. Fresh chicken is delivered just about every day, and prepared at the stores. “Because it is shipped practically every day, it is never frozen,” Hamdan explains. “We also serve fries made with a special New Orleans flour recipe.”

We’re Spreading The Word

Celebs have been tweeting about the flavor and raving about the chicken, including comedian Kevin Hart. “I can’t stop thinking how good it was,” Hart said on Twitter. “I think I ate 40 pieces over the last 3 days. It was from Brothers. SO GOOD!Brothers is one of Seth Rogen’s favorite New Orleans food discoveries. In a recent interview on the web series “Hot Ones,” Rogen mentioned Brothers as one of his favorite New Orleans food discoveries.

The success of Brothers Food Mart has led to its expansion. It has already opened four new locations in the past year, two in Baton Rouge and two in New Orleans. Hamdan says he wants to keep expanding, but only in regions where the stores are already well-known.

We’re looking at Texas or Atlanta right now,” Hamdan says, although no specifics have been announced yet. “We definitely want to remain in the Gulf area, so we are considering Alabama as well.”

It doesn’t matter what state Brothers Food Mart moves into next, it is about to get a huge boost in awareness. Earlier this year, Brothers Food Mart was selected as a tenant in a brand-new billion-dollar terminal in Louis Armstrong International Airport. The terminal is set for completion in February 2019, and will offer a great opportunity for international and domestic travelers to sample Brothers Food Mart products.

Power Partner Properties Inc.

Along with its unique offerings, Brothers Food Mart relies heavily on partnerships with top-name fuel providers. It has an even mix of Exxon and Shell stores, plus a few Mobils as well.

Brother Food Mart offers fuel specials because of its strong partnerships, particularly with premium fuel. “We offer a price-matching program,” Hamdan says. “Currently we match any price with our premium-branded Shell or Exxon fuel.”

Exxon also offers two renowned customer rewards programs. Exxon is a member of the Plenti Rewards program, which allows customers to accumulate points while filling up with fuel. Shell participates in a similar program called Fuel Rewards Network (FRN). Both programs allow customers to redeem their points when they shop at Brothers Food Mart.
